Letter to You
As life with COVID was nearing the 6-month point, I wanted to explore new ways to create photos. I began to question, what purpose does a portrait serve, and does it necessarily have to be an image of the person? I asked multiple people several questions that they could choose from, and I requested that they send their answers in a mailed letter. I also chose to keep the identities of the senders anonymous, but keep their answers uncensored. Reading through the responses I got, I began to realize that when given this chance of anonymity we might share a lot more information regarding our true desires and passions. We can see the personalities of each person not only through their answers, but the details they might have included, like stickers or phrases. We can learn so much about these people, and yet we don’t know their names.
